A narrative describing experiences of the narrator as a prisoner from Poland in the Auschwitz concentration camp doing road repairs, sharing morsels of food, and exchanging secret notes with another prisoner across barbed wire, and his success after his liberation in making contact again with the other prisoner and corresponding with her before his emigration to the U.S. and their loss of contact.
